Topic: Audio out of sync on local playback

Here's a weird one:

Our slideshow plays back correctly on the Web:

It also plays back correctly in the Soundslides Plus application.

One of our photographers wants to put the final product on a disk. We found that when playing the file locally, the audio appears out of sync. The audio track is 1:36 long, but on local playback of the slideshow, it keeps playing after the scrubber has reached zero. This happens both when we export from Soundslides, and when we download the slideshow from our Web server.

Re: Audio out of sync on local playback

Hey Peter.

It looks like that audio file is set to 48.000 rather than 44.100.  The very latest version of Flash Player (and Soundslides) will play this sample rate fine, but older versions of Flash Player will "fall out of sync" as the audio plays.

I don't know why you'd see this differently when viewed locally versus online, unless you were seeing it locally on one computer (with older FP) and online on another machine (with newer FP).

Either way, you can correct it by converting the audio_hi.mp3 and audio_lo.mp3 file to 44100, 16bit.

Re: Audio out of sync on local playback

Well that's just bizarre. I changed the local mp3 to 44.1 and it synced fine.

I still don't understand why playback would be different between local and online, since we were viewing the same file, on the same computer, with the same browser.

Re: Audio out of sync on local playback

I've just upgraded to SS Plus 264, on a MacBook Pro, 10.4.10, and am having the same problem, but here's the details. It's a 44.1 audio file that plays back fine in the editing interface and in the exported .swf locally. The problem is when i scan the scrubber forward the audio seems to have doubled in length, the later half just being static. so on a 5-min show, i click play, then drag the scrubber to roughly min 2, and let it continue playing. at that point the audio sync is off and if i let it continue playing, the scrubber will reach the end of the audio but be displayed as if it's only reached the halfway point of the timeline. the rest of the audio is somehow generated as static.  but this is all only locally. When I upload it, the scrubber behaves fine on the remote version. don't know why. any thoughts? here's the sample online: http://www.csstanley.com/workshop/
