Topic: wordpress.com gigya code SWF embed

Hi.
I have uploaded ss files to a private server and they play well from there. But I want to embed the slideshow in a hosted wordpress.com blog page. I managed to get ss to display and play on the blog's page, but the lower area of the slideshow does not display: UI & captions.
I did that by placing this code, as advised somewhere on wordpress.com support, in the HTML form on the page
[gigya width="525" height="500" src="http://myurl/soundslider.swf"]

I also resized my SS before exporting it so it will fit in the blog's page size, to w525 h500

I know wordpress.com does not support SWF embeds in general, but I am now so close to publishing my ss successfully on the blog, and just need some help with that missing lower section...

Is there anything I can do to correct that?

Thanks

Re: wordpress.com gigya code SWF embed

Can you post the URL to the page?

It would help quite a bit to see the "broken" page.

If not, try passing the embed_height and embed_width parameters with the SWF:

[gigya width="525" height="500" src="http://myurl/soundslider.swf?embed_height=500&embed_width=525"]

I personally don't have any experience with that [gigya] tag you're using, so I would be very interested in seeing the page.

Also, just to elaborate on what yannay said:

Blogs hosted on wordpress.com can not use the standard Flash embed code, or the standard iframe HTML5 embed code.

Blogs using the wordpress software on another host are generally not subject to those restrictions.

Thanks Joe

here's the link

I've added the H & W to the gigya shortcode but cannot see any difference. Added
?embed_height=500&embed_width=525

It's not really broken, just missing the UI at the bottom

Re: wordpress.com gigya code SWF embed

Thanks. The gigya code changes the way that the embed_height and embed_width is passed, so that won't work.

However, I think I see the issue. The height you're using doesn't match the slide show dimensions.  500 is the image height you used in the application, but that's not the total height of the slide show's SWF.

The height of your SWF is actually 563, not 500.

Try 563 and let me know if that works.

Yes I should have seen the height issue
that was it!
So there is a wordpress.com solution for SS SWF after all

thanks

It appears so. My only worry is that I don't see gigya on WP's official list of shortcodes. I wish WP was more transparent about what they allow and what they don't.

Still, it's a great option to have, and I appreciate you pointing it out.  Thanks.

The slide show appears to be working. Are you not able to see it?
