Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Quick sanity check ... are these playing on your iPad?

http://www.ww2vetsproject.com/wp-conten … sh_to_web/

http://www.ww2vetsproject.com/wp-conten … le=500x563

Both of them play on the iPads here.

I'm still trying to figure out why those same links won't play when put into an iframe on your site.  I might have to test this in the lab tomorrow more extensively if I can't figure it out tonight.

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

I'm going to have to setup another WP install tomorrow morning and try to figure out why the slide show isn't playing within an iframe within a WP post using an iPad.

Sorry.  This has been an epic test case.

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi Joe, I've had the same experience as you, they play at the url when viewed on the ipad but not when viewed embedded. Thanks,

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi Damian,

OK, I've got yet another shell ready.  Here's the new shell:

And here's a test that displays a slide show within an iframe:
http://media.soundslides.com/files/2010 … dtest.html

The audio plays on the iPads here.

Let me know how this one goes.

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi joe, thanks again, I will re-test, but I'm afraid the integration will have to wait, my assessment is on Friday and wiht the other tweaking I'm going to have to do I won't have time to change them all, I will test and let you know nonetheless and will change the shows gradually over the next ten days, thanks again, you're a star.

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi Joe, works fine on ipad, I presume at some stage there will be a nicer looking player around? Al I'm getting on the ipad is a fairly clunky looking thing with large buttons,

but hey, that will be a bonus, at least the player works now

thanks again

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Terrific, I'm glad it is working.

Yeah, the larger button sizes were needed for the iPad and iPhone.

The original, smaller buttons are too small according to Apple guidelines.

Anecdotally, I found the smaller buttons were too easy to miss with the folks that I did the live tests with.

As for the buttons themselves, it's pretty easy to swap in your own design if you're the kind that likes to design your own buttons.

The transparent PNG file named "buttons.png" (in the _files folder) contains all the button states.  Just edit that file (being careful to honor the boundaries of the existing buttons).

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi joe, quick question for you, I just updated to most recent version of the beta, two v quick questions, which shell is the new ipad embeddable autodetect  and is the procedure still the same as before for generating the embed code, many thanks, Damian

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi Damian.

The final name of the new shell is "HTML5 compatible".  I didn't want to risk the wrath of Apple by including the word iPad in the shell name.

The embed procedure is the same, though you can also use the embed tool now if you're more comfortable with that method.

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Hi Joe, thanks for that, when you say the embed tool, I assume you mean your online embed tool? thanks again for all your prev help on this, don't worry no sagas this time

Re: Slideshow appearance, hiding player, play on click + player size

Yep, the online embed tool.

http://tools.soundslides.com/embed/

It basically just re-directs you automatically to the "?embedcode" link. You'll see what I mean if you use it. It's more complicated than I wish it was, but then again, embedding an object is much more complicated than it used to be (thanks to all these new wonderful devices).
